Business Inspections

Fire & Life Safety Inspections

Businesses in the Diamond Springs-El Dorado Fire Protection District are inspected annually to identify fire and life safety concerns and are required by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and/or local ordinances.

Some of the known benefits of fire inspections are:

  • A safer working and living environment for employees.
  • A safer building for unfamiliar occupants.
  • A possible reduction in insurance premiums.

Business inspections may be scheduled if necessary. If you would like to schedule a Business Inspection, please click here and fill out the Request for Inspection form.

Often during fire inspections, code violations are found. The Fire Inspector will work with you to resolve all items in a timely manner. Most problems can be resolved in 1-2 weeks. More time can be allotted in the event that it is required as long as it does not compromise safety and/or fire probability.

For information on how to prepare for your business inspection please see the Fire Department Inspection Brochure.

Most inspections can be completed in less than 1 hour. However larger facilities may require additional time. Make yourself available during the inspection to answer and ask questions.

In order to cover the costs related to performing fire inspections, a fee is required. The fee schedule to cover reasonable and related costs is as follows:
