POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

 

  MEMBERSHIP

 

Association Members shall be of good moral character, 18 years or older and devoted to promoting the Fire District and the Community. 

There will be four classes of membership as follows:

1.1              Active

To be considered an active member of the Association with all rights, the member must be one of the following:

1.1.1        An active participating member of the Fire District as defined by the Chief and the District Board of Directors.  During the initial probationary period of employment with the District, a new Association member may not hold office, vote in elections or business from the floor. Upon completion of probation, a new member in good standing automatically will be classified as an active member of the Association.

1.1.2        A member of the Board of Directors of the District.  A former director may maintain active status after leaving office.

1.1.3        Any member who has been retired from the District. 

1.2              Retired From Association

To be eligible for retired status, a member shall have 10 years of active service with the Association and be retired from the District, or be a past Board Member of the District.   A retired member has all rights of an active member except a retired member may not hold office, vote in elections or business from the floor.

1.3              Inactive

An inactive member has no voting rights, is not eligible  to hold office in the Association and is not entitled to Association benefits, i.e. dinner meetings and other events.  An inactive member can be reinstated without loss of longevity or having to serve a new probationary period.  To become inactive, a member shall submit a letter to the Executive Board of Directors (E-Board) requesting a leave of absence. A leave of absence is granted or extended at the discretion of the E-Board.   

1.4              Honorary

The E-Board may grant honorary membership.  An honorary member has all rights of an Association member, except an honorary member may not hold office, vote in elections or business from the floor.
