17.8 Breathing Apparatus Maintenance Officer

Assignment Description:
To perform, in addition to their regular duty assignments, the duties of breathing apparatus officer.
Supervisor: Chief or designate.
Nature of Duties:
Oversee and participate in the maintenance of district breathing apparatus. This includes but is not limited to maintaining records of repairs, purchase of supplies, annual testing of regulators, hydro-static test on air cylinders, numbering of regulators and air cylinders. Submit annual report to the chief, make recommendations for repair and replacement of all breathing apparatus. To assure all district apparatus meets the minimum requirements as established by OSHA.
Minimum Requirements:
Certification for repair of self-contained breathing apparatus. Familiar with testing requirements and procedures. Familiar with laws relating to self-contained breathing apparatus.
