SPECIAL DUTY ASSIGNMENT

17.3 Apparatus and Equipment Officer

Assignment Description:

Perform, in addition to his/her regular duty assignments, the duties of apparatus and equipment officer.

Supervisor: chief or designate

Nature of Duties:

Supervise the operation and maintenance of all the district's apparatus and equipment.

Example: (The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required).

Prepare annual equipment inventory; oversee annual engine and stationary pump test; maintain engine and stationary pump records; provide chief or designate a list of new and replacement equipment needs; advise district mechanic of equipment maintenance and repairs as needed; insure that daily equipment checks and weekly inventories are carried out; make weekly inspections of all district apparatus and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Good knowledge of: Operation of district apparatus, use of equipment, pump and engine operations.

Ability to: Supervise personnel, maintain records, operate all district apparatus and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum of 23 years old
Hold the rank of a captain
Minimum of five years experience in operation of district equipment or equivalent
