OBJECTIVE Two person engine company will place one 2½" hand line in service from the rear hose bed to a point 150 feet from the position of engine placement.

Given: Company members will perform the evolution in a safe manner from a spot on relatively level ground. Personnel will wear full protective clothing and don SCBA as part of the evolution. Time begins when brake is set.
PROCEDURES
1. Member #1 makes size-up, gives directions (which include how much working line to pull) and reports on conditions as the engine is spotted and brake is set.

2. Member #2 spots the engine and places the pump in gear.

3. Both members exit the engine in safe, unhurried manner.

4. Member #1 dons SCBA to standard.

5. Member #2 steps up onto the tailboard, removes any fittings from the male end of the 2½" hose, places them on the tailboard and steps forward off the tailboard with the male end of the hose.

6. Member #2 walks the male end of the hose to a point approximately 30 feet behind and slightly toward the side of the fire's location and sets it on the ground.

7. Member #2 lays out three lengths of 2½" hose so that the couplings are lined up next to the male end. The hose is laid on the ground in an accordion with the male end closest to the fire side of the hose lay.

8. Member #2 breaks the hose at the 150' coupling using the foot-tilt method and attaches the female coupling to a discharge gate.

9. Member #1 obtains a 2½" nozzle or TFT nozzle and TFT reducer and attaches it to the male end using the foot-tilt method.

10. Member #1 advances the nozzle to the fire side 150' away from the engine using the proper shoulder drag.
