OBJECTIVE Apparatus Operator will safely place the ladder in service from the spotting position to maximum extension at 75 degree climbing angle. Operator will also demonstrate ability to place both the ladder power take off and water pump in gear for simultaneous operation in a separate, untimed evolution.

Given: Apparatus Operator shall wear structural helmet and gloves. Ladder evolution will begin with the vehicle at full stop. Time begins when the brake is set.

1. PTO and ladder power switch properly activated. Pump is not engaged.

2. Operator exits cab safely in an unhurried manner and checks for overhead hazards.

3. Operator removes chock blocks from engineer's compartment and places one each in front and back of each front wheel.

4. Operator removes outrigger pads from stowage and places one below each outrigger, centered at the spot where the outrigger will touch the ground.

6. Operator places the hydraulic transfer valve in the "out" position to activate hydraulic pressure to the outrigger system.

8. Operator lowers both outriggers, checking the position of the outriggers prior to ground contact. Re-position pads as necessary.

The Apparatus Operator must be familiar with the operating instructions and specifications defined in the LTI 2S-55' Manual (Sections I to III) and the applicable portions of IFSTA Aerial Apparatus prior to operating this equipment in the field. Familiarity shall be demonstrated by scoring not less than 80% on a written exam.
