I. Purpose: To maintain compliance with contact requirements of the El Dorado County Regional Prehospital Emergency Services Operations Authority (JPA) provider contract with the District. (Section 33.1 Mandatory Training and JPA Policy 305).
II. Policy: The District imposes additional specific training requirements for paramedics within the mandated forty-eight hour (48) requirement for continuing education (CEU). These training programs shall be completed prior to local accreditation. These training programs shall be maintained by all paramedics subject to the (JPA) Engine or Ambulance Contracts. These training programs include the following, or their equivalents, as approved by the Medical Director:
a. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or its equivalent such as programs provided by the American Safety and Health Institute.
b. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or its equivalent such as Pediatric Emergencies for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP).
III. Recommendations: The District makes additional specific training recommendations that include specialty training or certification in the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or its equivalents such as Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
