Subject: Resident Stations

I. Policy

It is the policy of the district to allow district personnel to occupy stations 44, 46, and 47 as their personal residences. The Chief shall select those persons who are best qualified to meet district needs and who are willing to comply with the following responsibilities and conditions.

II. Minimum Qualifications

A. EMT 1

B. Active Firefighter or higher rank, not on probation.

C. Qualified to operate apparatus normally housed at the station involved.

D. Consideration will also be given the applicant's emergency experience and availability to respond to incidents.

III. Responsibilities

A. Perform daily apparatus checks on all apparatus and equipment assigned to the station at least three times per week.

B. Perform all weekly apparatus checks on all apparatus and equipment assigned to the station.

C. Complete all required paperwork and report any mechanical problems or equipment out of service to the duty Captain.

D. Perform station and ground maintenance as follows:

1. Weekly

a. Sweep and mop hard surface living and apparatus area floors.

b. Clean all sinks and toilets.

c. Dust and vacuum.

d. Mow lawns and/or weed eat, and police station property.

2. Monthly

a. Wash windows.

b. Clean interior walls of spider webs, stains, etc.

3. Ongoing

a. Perform minor repairs as necessary.

b. Notify duty Captain of repair, safety and maintenance needs.

IV. Conditions

A. Notify a chief officer of any extended absences from the station (more than three days).

B. The occupant shall pay the district for all personal long distance phone calls each month.

C. Pets shall be approved by the Chief.

D. Occupants or guest(s) shall not cause embarrassment to the district at any time.

E. More than one person may occupy a station only if approved by the Chief and the current occupant.

F. The occupant shall pay for all electricity used at Stations 44 and 47 exceeding 950 KWH each month.

G. Occupants shall submit to quarterly station inspections for readiness, cleanliness and safety.


V. Cause for Eviction

Any violations of conditions, non-completion of responsibilities or change in qualifications will be sufficient reason to give a thirty (30) day notice for the occupant to vacate the station.

VI. Agreement by Resident

I, __________________, I agree to the terms and conditions of this policy, and further understand that I will be held accountable for the provisions outlined herein.
