Dear Community Member,
The Fire District presents this report to the
communities we serve in an attempt to better inform you about the
services provided by the District.
While this report is not exclusively about our communities or
our District, it provides a wealth of information about the manor in
which public safety is delivered in El Dorado County and how fire agencies interact in
delivering services to you.
It should be noted that:
-
This report was commissioned upon the request of the El Dorado
County Board of Supervisors and oversight in selecting the
consultant and producing the report was tasked to the Local
Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO).
-
This report is in response to several Fire Districts in
El Dorado
County
suffering a reduction in funding historically provided by the El
Dorado County Board of Supervisors.
Diamond Springs – El Dorado Fire District has never
received any of this funding.
-
This report provides an assessment of existing countywide fire
suppression and service levels, identifies gaps in current
service delivery and describes the fiscal systems in place for
funding these services.
-
This report suggest some
options for the future delivery of these services.
-
This report does not specifically analyze the services
delivered by each agency or specific
community risk management issues.
This would require a more detailed analysis by each fire
agency. The Diamond
Springs – El Dorado Fire District completed this process in 2006
in order to establish a community service level standard.
This process included significant effort on the
part of the consultant staff, the LAFCO staff and the El Dorado
County Fire Chief’s Association. Their efforts have maintained a
high level of service continuity despite a poor economic
environment.
